Another article:

Wilson primarily campaigned on expanding workers’ rights, addressing the homelessness crisis in Seattle, and creating more affordable housing through social housing, rent control, and using public land for affordable development.

Meanwhile, Kshama Sawant is running for congress in Washington’s 9th Congressional district (central/south Seattle and its southeast suburbs).

Zero charisma. Bland campaign. Unprepared as she was not able to answer a number of questions during debates. She’s barely eking out a win, which means she’ll be vulnerable come next election. I don’t forsee her having a successful tenure.

If you’re holding her to Mamdani campaign standards, you’re going to be disappointed no matter the candidate.

Let’s let her cook a bit and then decide how she performed.

The lack of charisma, fine, but how do you not have answers to fundamental questions?

Not to say such knowledge gaps can’t limit her effectiveness, but from what (little) I’ve read and heard of her, she seems to be fundamentally a community organizer and as mayor will probably work accordingly: She may or may not successfully make up for such gaps by knowing whom to trust both integrity- and competence-wise.

I didn’t watch a ton of the debates, but I didn’t see what you’re talking about. She seemed to be able to answer the questions just fine, although of course not at Mamdani level. Do you have any examples off the top of your head where she flubbed answers?

Was there a particular part of that you had in mind?

I watched the debate over a month ago and don’t care to watch it again, but there were various points where she failed to deliver on details.

still better than Bruce

That’s short term thinking. If she doesn’t deliver, it hurts the progressive movement and people won’t give them another chance in the future.

That’s old school thinking. They will smear the progressive movement no matter what Katie does. They call Nancy Pelosi a communist. Wolf has been cried too many times, now those types of attacks are no longer effective.

After trailing by more than 10,000 votes the day after the election, Wilson, 43, chipped away at Mayor Bruce Harrell’s margin as late-counted ballots broke her way. She took a tiny lead in Monday’s count, and with Tuesday’s additions, Wilson is now ahead by 1,346 votes.

I hope this helps people realize just how important every vote is.

I was telling an out of town buddy that this is going to come down to neighborhood voting blocks. Wilson had canvasers knocking on doors to talk up Katie. I guess it came down to that.

Good, she’s a solid progressive by all accounts and isn’t scandal ridden like her opponent

And she’s won now
