well I can understand why Indians are the most nervous about it. I’ve dealt with off shored Indian devs for years, they “perform” about on par as AI coding agents which isn’t saying much.

At least when the AI fucks up it’ll admit it when you confront it.

Well not really, it‘ll admit whatever you nudge it towards. I‘ve had so many „you‘re absolutely right“ moments from the AI when the error was on my side.

✨ Yes, you’re absolutely right. It wasn’t my mistake, it was yours. I just took the blame to make you feel less like an idiot that makes mistakes even an AI can solve reliably. I realize, that you don’t like this behavior and will change from now on based on your request! ✨

Updated Memory.md to remember to always be picky, question every little thing the user did wrong or against the style guide that I find and bluntly point it out.

You get what you pay for. I’ve never met an offshored Indian developer who was paid what a western developer was paid. If I were them, I actively wouldn’t give a fuck either. I love my Indian colleagues, they are great people, and know how to have great parties. They’re way cooler when you realize they’re actual people and not code-bots.

Oh well… There’s always manufacturing.

When can we use AI design circuit diagram and PCB

There’s a lot of work in India that’s threatened by AI.

Conversely, there’s a lot of “AI” that’s just workers in India.

That makes sense, Modi is trying to build up data centers despite Indian cities being like the absolute worst place to put them.

Even just to cool them is going to compound localized warming. The more they run the hotter the city gets, the hotter the city gets the more they have to run…

With the Himalayan mountains trapping heat, this is going to cause an expontial problem for the vast majority of Indians already suffering under man made warming.

About a decade ago I worked as a software developer consultant at a company that were in the process of outsourcing all their software development to India…

A team of 6 Indians were hired in to take over the piece of software my team was developing. All 6 Indians had CVs that mentioned 10+ years of Java development experience, which was the language the software was written in.

However after working with them for a full month it was pretty clear that none of them were very skilled. One of them was clearly better than the rest, and he confided with me that he actually only had a 12 week programming course as experience.

This was far from a unique experience. Some of the other pieces of functionality had been running with an outsourcing team for 3 years. And despite daily status updates and constant checking up on them, they had yet to provide anything that actually worked.

The company itself was pretty clearly a huge part of the problem as they had pretty much opted for the cheapest possible outsourcing firm…

But all in all Claude would have run circles around pretty much every outsourcing developer I saw during that assignment… To be honest a single Claude license would probably have been a stronger contender than all 150 outsourcing developers combined…

That’s a very large amount of jobs that are very directly threatened by AI.
