Flammy Enjoys Some Grub

This skilled miniature predator captured this grub in the dirt by my dad’s feet. I wouldn’t have been able to capture this long-exposure image without his help spotting this diminutive owl.

Flammulated Owls are a migratory species that breed in the pine and Douglas Fir dominated forests east of the cascades. They are currently preparing to make their journey from as far south as southern Mexico! Quite durable little raptors.
