It seems like the $$ impact of a movie is the only thing talked about these days. If I want to read about a new movie, I have to sort through so much bullshit that I don’t care about. How much it made opening weekend. What it cost to make. How it’s revenue compares to other movies that are out. That has never been why I watch a movie. I don’t give a runny shit for how much a studio makes or loses.
Hasn’t been always the case? Atleast since 2010s I always saw movie collections being discussed. If anything it has gone down now after streaming increased.
I suppose if the window is the past 10–15 years, I can’t say you’re wrong.
I’ve been around longer than that. Over four decades and box-office draw has always been a huge deal. Even for all the crappy Oscar-bait biopics and WW2 dramas.
Yeah, I have similar, if not more, time under my belt. All I can say is your experience does not match mine.
